Last Minute Halloween Post Ideas

With only one week left to go, Halloween is on everyone’s minds and ads. If you don’t have the whole themed campaign ready and rolling yet, we’ve got a few last minute ideas to help you roll out a Halloween-themed ad, post or marketing collateral with minimal effort and resources.
Even if your business doesn’t rely on Halloween sales much, you still want to acknowledge the holiday with an on-brand post or blog article as it’s a great opportunity to build an emotional connection with your customers. Offer your visitors some value in the form of useful guidelines, how-tos or facts related to Halloween.
Depending on what your brand messaging tone usually is, you can serve up entertaining, scary, gruesome, or cheery posts. Let’s see what your last minute options are.

Animation

Moving objects always command more attention than static, so browse Crello’s animated templates and finds ones you can use. For example, here’s a cool way to leverage Halloween with a themed animated template for a knitting and crochet supplies company:

Event posters

If you are hosting a staff karaoke party, you might want to use a poster design like this for your announcement:

But, let’s be real, you are probably actually communicating the message to staff via social media, so we used a Resize feature transform the design into the right size and dimensions for Facebook:

Here’s one more template I used to resize into a different format. The design is originally found in Invitations:

But with a few tweaks and tricks, here’s a Twitter post I made using the Resize feature:

As the automatic resize left me with unsightly white spaces to the sides of my design, as well as font sizes that were just too small for the new format, here’s the full list of adjustments I performed:
  1. Stretched both the background image and the transparent overlay to fill the whole area of my design.
  2. Locked background image and overlay into place.
  3. Clicked Ctrl+A to select all the unlocked design elements – text boxes and decorations.
  4. Clicked Group and enlarged my selection to fit the new dimensions.
  5. Ungrouped the elements to edit the text and make further changes.

Giveaways

You might not have time to plan and run a content, but you definitely can come up with a last minute giveaway idea. Just pick your prize, create your visual and post!
For this post example, I’m also resizing a template from a Poster to an Instagram post, because let’s be honest, Instagram is the giveaway heaven these days. And this time, I barely had to make any changes to my template to make it work in the new format. Here’s the original:

Here’s the design immediately after using the Resize feature to convert it to Instagram post format:

All I had to do was stretch the background to cover the whole area of the design, move my shady figure, text boxes, and accompanying design elements to the right to make it work.

Pro tip: Use the Resize button on the top right to quickly create duplicates of the design for other social media or websites, like Twitter or blog headers.

Costume ideas

Google just released Halloween costume trends tool Frightgeist to help its users come up with costumes and keep tabs on what’s on trend. Compile your own list of Halloween costume recommendations, tailored for your brand’s audience and share it on social media and company blog. Use a themed template to create a banner for your blog entry or the respective social media post:

Movie recommendations

If you are a Halloween fan, compiling a list of themed movie and TV show episode recommendations for the holiday will feel more like a fun time, rather than a chore. Curate your very own list or even host a movie night!

Miscellaneous

  • Even if you don’t have a themed collection for Halloween, think if any of your products can be used as a holiday accessory in some way. Put your idea to life, take a picture and share with your readers!
  • If you or members of your team have a spooky story to share about the holiday, write it down and publish on your blog or social.
  • Fun surveys like what costume are you wearing this year or what’s the coolest Halloween story you got can also be very engaging and entertaining.
  • Run a poll asking followers whether company CEO should dress as a Sponge Bob or a bat for Halloween and post a photo report after.
  • Hold a pumpkin carving competition:
