Apple has been fined $569.5M and Meta $227.8M by the EU for breaking the Digital Markets Act rules. These rules are meant to limit the power of Big Tech and make the market fairer for smaller companies.

The White House strongly opposed the decision, calling it a “novel form of economic extortion.” It said the fines are unfair, discriminatory, and a threat to free trade and civil society.
