Huawei is making major strides in AI chip production, planning to build 100,000 Ascend 910C chips and 300,000 Ascend 910B processors this year. The company has already boosted its AI processor yield from 20% to 40%, with a target to push this figure to 60% by 2025.

 

Despite facing US sanctions and outdated equipment, Huawei is regaining momentum. The Ascend 910C chipset, developed last year, has been sent to top Chinese tech firms, signaling a shift toward mass production.

 

Currently, Huawei controls 75% of China’s AI chip production, with the Ascend 910C achieving 60% of Nvidia’s H100 inference performance. While Nvidia remains a strong competitor, Huawei’s steady progress suggests China may soon reduce its dependence on foreign AI technology.
